Call or meet up
Once I receive your inquiry, I will reach out to determine if we need to set up a call, video chat, or in-person meeting to provide a custom quote for your project or to discuss any planning required for your shoot. Projects that require unlimited licensing, full buyouts, or custom licensing will need to schedule a consultation.
STEP 03
Before our shoot
Coordinating closely to map out the concept and key elements for the project. From location scouting, weather monitoring, coordinating permits, mood boarding, and other professional services as needed. I will be there to assist you throughout the process, ensuring your production runs flawlessly.
STEP 04
Picture Time
Photoshoots are meant to be fun! All the work we put into step 3 brings us to a successful and productive shoot day. I will keep our day running smoothly and on time. Providing intuitive and direct direction where needed so you can feel confident and comfortable that you are getting the content you are seeking. Using 17 years' experience and knowledge to troubleshoot the unexpected.
STEP 05
Delivering photos
You will receive your private, custom online gallery for high-resolution downloads, allowing you to share it instantly. Delivery times are subject to the project. Standard 1-2 hour portrait sessions turnaround in 3-7 business days.
STEP 06
Celebrate

This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
Not a problem, you're in good hands. With 17 years of experience in the industry, working with clients at all levels —new and established —I have the knowledge to guide you. Whether it's your first time in front of the camera or working with seasoned talent, I put subjects at ease with intuitive guidance and awareness.
What if I don't know how much time i need?
No problem at all! You can schedule a 15-to 30-minute consultation call with me. Video or phone only.

Can you recommend any good locations?
Coordination with locations is part of my services. Recommendations are available according to the project and needs. Permits, permission, and additional fees may be required depending on regulations.
How much should we be expecting to Invest? Do you charge extra for travel?
Visit the contact page to learn more about pricing and inquire further. Specific projects will require more details and/or a consultation call to receive a custom quote. Packages are available for headshots, branding, spec work, and events.
Extended Travel Within California:
For locations requiring a commute of more than 2 hours one way from Joshua Tree (such as San Diego, Los Angeles, Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Santa Barbara, Solvang, Camarillo, Ojai, San Diego, and Orange County/ Southern California beaches), I charge a travel fee of $100 per hour of driving time beyond the 2-hour mark.
Example: A 2.5-hour drive to LA would include a $50 travel fee (0.5 hours × $100)
Do you shoot weddings or family photography?

Do you shoot film photography?
Yes! I trained in the darkroom for 4 years and love shooting Analog Film. If you are interested in those services, please mention it in your outreach, and we can discuss the additional cost. I use a film lab in Glendale CA for developing and scan all the images high res by hand myself.

I contacted Jess - very last minute - to photograph a pressed flower fabric that I had designed for a grant contest. The brief was to submit a photo in a very specific format that describes my business. I had chosen a location that emphasizes our beautiful pink boulders and blue sky. Jess is a great communicator and after listening to my vision, she warmly convinced me to use a different, more convenient location. When the model I had booked told me she was ill an hour before set-up, Jess found an extraordinary replacement in Sasha. She is able to translate a client’s vision into a deceptively simple visual language. I feel like she has the soul of someone who is much older and very wise. As you can tell I really couldn’t have done this without her and her extremely helpful attitude. My experience with her was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I’ll happily work with her and Sasha again for new product photos.
Jessica is so lovely to work with, she has a beautiful energy which made me feel comfortable and happy right away - which is super important when posing for photos. I sought out Jessica Castro after seeing her gorgeous Los Angeles wedding photography. I've worked with her as a marketer on a number of fashion content marketing projects.
